10km Dart swim for charity

Sarah Fenwick

At the end of May recovering from a minor operation to my hand/wrist my husband and I set ourselves the challenge of completing a 10km swim and raising some funds for 3 charities.  I’m pleased to report I completed the Dart 10km swim on Sat with 398 others!  I’d set myself a target that if I did it in under 3 hrs I’d be really pleased and over 3 1/2 hrs I’d be disappointed and I did it in 2 hrs 57 mins – so really, really pleased.   The scenery (above the water) was stunning, below the water decidedly murky (couldn’t see hand at full stretch – or even half stretch at times). There were some tough moments and had to dig deep (do a bit of sports psychology/coaching on myself!) and the last 45 mins I was feeling cold (the river is a few degrees cooler than the sea) and knew that I had to swim harder to warm up, but was beginning to get tired!

BBC’s One Show followed us and we are on Weds 7th September.

Anyone who would like to help me increase the funds raised for charity, my Just Giving links stay active for a while and are:

http://www.justgiving.com/Sarah-Fenwick-Younger-0 for the Earl Mountbatten Hospice

http://www.justgiving.com/Sarah-Fenwick-Younger- for ActionAid

http://www.justgiving.com/Sarah-Fenwick for Women’s Sport and Fitness

JustGiving sends your donation straight to the charity and automatically reclaims Gift Aid if you’re a UK taxpayer, so your donation is worth even more. I hope you’ll join me in supporting these charities.

Thank you

Sarah
