Simmy Grover is an academic and practitioner in the field of coaching and organisational psychology. Dr Grover lectures in organisational and consulting psychology at UCL, is the admissions tutor for undergraduate psychology (BSc/MSci) and is the Brain Sciences Faculty Lead for the BAME Awarding Gap project.
As a coach she works with clients in senior leadership positions focused on developing their behaviour to become more successful and effective leaders and those looking to transition to the next step in their career. She is a challenging coach who pushes her clients to reach their full potential and leverages her experience of the behaviour change literature to ensure the change her clients experience is adaptive, long-term and sustainable. Her own experience of building a business and working with C-level executives provides her with a foundation to develop her clients effectively within their organisational environments. She is constantly developing her own coaching skills to provide her clients with a variety of tools and techniques that suit their needs. Further, her clients have benefited from not only her academic expertise but also her use of psychometrics to enhance the development and behaviour change process. Alongside this she works as an Organisational Psychologist with a number of firms across various sectors that are looking to improve the performance of their employees and teams.
She has a PhD in Organisational Psychology from University College London (UCL), which was completed under the supervision of Prof. Adrian Furnham.
Dr Grover’s research includes individual differences, interpersonal relationships (network analysis), organisational processes and structure and their impact on individual and organisational performance. She also focuses on wellbeing in the workplace and the efficacy of wellbeing interventions to improve wellbeing and reduce burnout. Her most notable academic publication was a systematic review of the effectiveness of coaching in organisational settings. Most recently she was the Chief Science Officer at a B2B digital employee mental health platform. Her role was to ensure the academic and scientific validity of the platform and interventions.
Prior to her career in occupational psychology, Dr Grover spent a number of years in financial services. She started her career as an equity trader at Morgan Stanley but her most recent role was to establish a European business for Aite Group, a US research/consulting organisation, and Dr Grover was honoured as one of Financial News’ “40 Under 40 Rising Stars of Trading and Technology“ in 2011. Together with being widely quoted in the press, in publications including Bloomberg, Reuters, CNBC, The Financial Times, and Financial News, she also spoke at key industry events across Europe and Asia, including TradeTech Europe, TradeTech Japan, International Trader Forum, FPL Japan and FPL EMEA.
Dr Grover holds a Masters degree in Biomedical Engineering from Imperial College London, as well as a Masters degree with Distinction in Social Cognition from University College London. She is fully accredited in Hogan Personality Assessments, the Leadership Versatility Index and has graduated from the Meyler Campbell Business Coach Program.
